About CMUDE:

Founded in 2011 in Venezuela as the Spanish version of the World Universities Debate Championship (WUDC), CMUDE has rapidly grown to become the largest and most significant debate competition in Spanish-speaking universities. Each year, CMUDE attracts hundreds of Spanish-speaking debaters and judges from around the world, providing a premier platform for enhancing public speaking, argumentation, and critical thinking skills.

Key Competitions and Activities:

Main Debate Competition: The core event of CMUDE, featuring a diverse range of topics and formats.
Judges Cup: A competitive event introduced in 2014, where judges from each country form teams to showcase their debating experience in a tournament similar to the main competition.
Spanish as a Foreign Language Tournament (SFL): A unique competition where non-native Spanish speakers debate each other, highlighting their skills in Spanish debate.
Speech Competition: An event focusing on public speaking, where participants prepare and deliver speeches on various topics, emphasizing traditional oratory and rhetoric.

CMUDE 2023 Highlights:

Host City: Panama
Venue: Technological University of Panama, renowned for its expertise in science education in the Republic of Panama.
CMUDE 2023 benefited from the support of prominent institutions including: the Electoral Tribunal, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Social Development, and the Tourism Authority of Panama.

World Debate Consulting and the Panamanian Debate Association (ASPADE) played a crucial role as a consulting partner, contributing significantly to both the bidding and planning phases of the event.
